STTS designed the Air-Truck routing solution in 2014 to provide a convenient option for our clients. Air-Truck is and innovative and cost-effective way to move cargo from any part of the world to North Africa.
When moving cargo to North Africa from distant origins such as Houston, Dubai, Singapore and Tokyo, many clients are often faced the choice between the fast yet expensive Air Freight solution and the cheaper but very slow Sea Freight solution. In addition, the air freight option in some cases is completely ruled out for packages with excessive weight/size due to the lack of regular direct flights to Tunis for large cargo aircrafts.
The Air-Truck routing provides valuable advantages when moving cargo from distant origins to Tunisia and Algeria, compared to traditional options:
- It is less expensive than direct air freight.
- It ensures much shorter transit time than sea freight:
- 6-7 days from origin airport to Tunis (capital of Tunisia).
- 10 days from origin airport to Hassi Messaoud (Algeria).
- It provides an otherwise unavailable option to air freight oversize, extra heavy cargo.
How?
The Air-Truck routing goes as follows:
- Airfreight cargo from origin airport to France (Paris/Marseille) or Italy (Milano).
- Origin THC to be paid (cost estimation provided below)
- Perform customs transit formalities in France/Italy.
- Load cargo on truck and transfer to port:
- Paris airport to Marseille port - 48H
- Marseille airport to Marseille port - same day
- Use ferry service from France (Marseille) or Italy (Genoa) to cross the Mediterranean to Tunis.
- Navigation period 22H
